April 11, 2024 · Hostos Community College, CUNY
In April 2024, I helped organize and present at the Hostos Community College Career Symposium, a daylong program bringing together students, alumni, faculty, staff, and industry professionals around career pathways, labor-market information, professional development, and career-readiness practice.
The event record identifies Professor Anna Manukyan, Professor Asrat Amnie, Lisanette Rosario, Felix Sanchez, and me as the organizing team. Zoom’s event system also assigned me the formal Speaker role across three sessions and Alternative Host permissions for one session, reflecting both presentation and event-operations responsibilities.
Building a cross-campus career program
The symposium was designed as more than a single workshop. It combined a virtual keynote, panel discussions, career-readiness sessions, labor-market perspectives, alumni and employer engagement, and an in-person networking component.
My role crossed content and operations: supporting the event build, helping manage the virtual platform, presenting during the program, and contributing to coordination across the Career Services team and campus partners.
Career Champions recognition
The symposium also introduced Hostos’s inaugural Career Champions Recognition, highlighting members of the college community who went beyond their formal roles to support students’ career development. Post-event public coverage from Career Services Director Lisanette Rosario specifically credits my collaboration in the symposium and identifies me as the person who led the Career Champions recognition.
That component mattered because career readiness is not produced by one office alone. Faculty, staff, alumni, employers, advisers, and program partners all shape the opportunities students can see and access. The recognition was designed to make that shared work visible.
Documented by Hostos and the event platform
Hostos promoted the April 11 symposium through its institutional newsletter as a professional-development event focused on career paths and industries. My archived Zoom event records separately document my organizer, speaker, and alternate-host roles.
