Art & Visual Work

Drawing · Illustration · Mixed media · Digital work · Printmaking

Visual art has been a continuous part of my work alongside research, writing, teaching, and design. My work spans drawing, painting, mixed media, printmaking, digital work, editorial illustration, architectural studies, and experimental pieces.

This gallery brings together selected work across media and periods and will continue to expand as additional pieces are digitized and cataloged.

Studio & visual practice

My formal training included AP Drawing and AP 2-D Art & Design, followed by Fine Arts and Printmaking study through Ringling College of Art and Design’s PreCollege program. I also spent several summers teaching at Art Center Sarasota.

The gallery includes observational and architectural drawing, portraiture, illustration, mixed-media work, digital experiments, and process studies. Later projects such as Rezoning sit between visual art, research, and digital presentation.

Editorial illustration & design

At Columbia, my visual work extended into student publications and editorial contexts, including The Eye, the Columbia Daily Spectator, The Columbia Lion, Quarto, and Rare Candy.

That work connects directly to my broader portfolio: visual hierarchy, interpretation, composition, audience, and the relationship between image and text are also information-design problems.

Process studies: Rezoning

The 2017 process studies for Rezoning move between architectural observation, handwritten zoning notes, layered drawing, and translucent digital interventions, showing how the finished animated work developed from its earlier studies.

Additional brownstone studies and related process work will be added as the series is expanded online.

Provenance & cataloging

The gallery presents a curated selection from a broader body of visual work.

Works are shown with available title, date, medium, and publication, exhibition, or award context. When details are uncertain, they are left unspecified rather than inferred. Images are presented as web-ready versions of original masters.

The gallery highlights a selection of finished and clearly attributable original work. For readers interested in the cataloging approach, the Art & Visual Work Catalog & Provenance documents the works currently included and the standards used to describe them.

Selected creative recognition

Creative recognition includes 22 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, two Congressional Art Competition awards, the Heart of Art Award, the Creativity Award, and a later CSArts Award.

The gallery focuses on the work itself, while the recognition page separates creative awards from academic honors, scholarships, professional recognition, and credentials.

Creative work across media

Visual art, writing, research, and design are different parts of the same practice: close observation, interpretation, form, evidence, and attention to audience.
